Starting Out - Miss Muffin

So this is the first blog article I have ever written as 'Miss Muffin', and I'm a little nervous/don't really know what I'm doing, but hey, I'm going to give it a try! Just a quick background about me, my name is Louise, and I am just about to turn 22 in November. I've worked in restaurants as a waitress and then a barmaid since I was old enough to do so, and then at 20 I landed a job as a chef on holiday yachts in the Med. This was pretty stressful, as I was cooking for 8 people plus, in a substandard kitchen, while sailing in the unpredictable sea! But the experience was incredible and I'm not complaining. As this was seasonal work only, come winter I was out of a job, but not ready to return to England, so my fiance and I decided to up and go to South East Asia and backpack for as long as we could. We returned home with a mountain of inspiration and a tiny surprise. Then on the 28th of July 2017 I joined the mummy club, giving birth to my beautiful little girl Isla Anita. She is now 9 weeks old, and you never believe people when they tell you, but since she was born time has just flown by!

Some people may think I am mad to try and start a business while looking after a newborn, but I'm going to stay positive and do my best. None of this would be even remotely possible if it wasn't for the amazing support of my top taste tester and fiance Bob, and also my family who cannot get enough of their first grandchild.

My plans:

I don't expect to become a famous blogger overnight, or to make millions selling my cupcakes and recipes to the world. I understand that this is a gradual process and I'm going to be realistic. I'll do what I can when I can, and not sacrifice the time spent with my daughter in these early days, as I know I'll never get this time back. I'd like to publish my own recipes, make YouTube videos, and learn how to take amazing artistic photos of my food. I want to have my own market stall at the local Farmers Market, and supply nearby cafes and bookshops with my fresh muffins and cupcakes. I'd love to make birthday cakes for children's parties, cupcakes for baby showers, and eventually move on to gigantic sparkly wedding cakes, which weigh a tonne and cost the earth... but all in good time. We can laugh at my first order for a Hen Do novelty cake, and we can cry when the ridiculouslyhotforDecembersun melts all my buttercream icing at my first market stall making a rainbow river dripping all down the table cloth.

Anyway, please join me on my journey, I'll do my best to keep you updated.

Louise x
